A Ruston man was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly punched a woman in the face and pin her against a wall with his arm on her neck.
Jalen Jones, 20, was charged with domestic violence and other charges on August 17 after a witness reported seeing the attack.
Ruston Police responded to the report of a domestic disturbance at an apartment on Goodwin Road. When officers arrived, they heard what sounded like a man and woman fighting inside the residence.
The victim opened the door and police could see Jones standing inside screaming. Officers attempted to speak to him, but as soon as he saw them, he ran out the back door.
Jones was taken into custody after a short foot chase and the deployment of a TASER. When he was searched, a small amount of marijuana was found in his pocket.
Jones said he did not do anything and then stated he only pushed the woman to the ground.
The victim denied anything had happened, but a witness reported seeing Jones become aggressive and punch the woman in the face. The witness said Jones pushed the victim against a wall with a forearm to her neck.
Police saw a scratch on Jones’s right hand. He said he did not know how that occurred.
Jones was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for domestic abuse battery, possession of marijuana, and resisting an officer.
