A Ruston man was arrested last week after he allegedly struck his wife in the face several times.
Cardet Straughter, 40, was arrested August 27 after Ruston Police responded to a domestic abuse complaint.
A woman told police she was at a park with her husband when he began to beat her. She said Straighter struck her about seven times with an open hand and closed fist. She said Straughter was at the moment jumping over a fence behind the property to flee the area.
Straughter was located and questioned. He said he was at the park with another woman and his wife found him there. Straughter said the wife hit him while he was sitting in his vehicle. He explained the wife had taken their vehicle back to their residence.
When Straughter was searched, a small bag of suspected marijuana and a bag of suspected methamphetamine were found in his pocket.
Police observed the wife had a small cut on the inside of her lip, according to an officer’s report.
Straughter was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, and domestic abuse battery.
