
Charles A. McCorkle, age 85 of Ruston, LA passed away Saturday, September 6, 2025 in Monroe, LA. Born in Marion, Ohio on December 30, 1939, Charles was the son of the late Charles W. and Lola K. (Fisher) McCorkle. Charles graduated from Manistee High School in 1958 then he went to Western Michigan University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Vietnam and Korea. Upon his return, Charles went to work at the J.C. Penney Company, where he met then married his wife, Judy. He was a local insurance agent for over 30 years before he retired.
Charles and Judy were married for 57 years and they had two sons together, Charles D. McCorkle and James M. McCorkle. He was devoted to his wife, sons, and grandsons. Charles moved his family to Ruston, LA in 1979, but then moved to Farmerville, LA in 1989 where he spent the next 20 years fishing for his white perch. In 2009, Charles moved back to Ruston to be close to his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his son, Charles Daniel “Chuckie” McCorkle. He is survived by his wife, Judy McCorkle of Ruston, LA; son, James Matthew “Jim” McCorkle and wife Leigh Ann of Ruston, LA; two grandsons, Tyler Reed McCorkle and Colin Blake McCorkle of Ruston, LA; and his sister, Mary Lynn and husband Ronald Sondee of Traverse City, MI.
Per Charles request, there will be no visitation or funeral. He will be cremated and his ashes laid to rest in a private family service at Kilpatrick Memorial Garden in Ruston, LA.
