Man charged with simple robbery of student

Grambling State University authorities arrested a man Sunday evening after he allegedly attempted to forcibly take a jacket off a female student.

Tyler Owens, 18, of Tallulah, was arrested Sept. 14 for attempted simple robbery in a GSU dorm.

The victim told GSU police Owens threw her up against a wall in Wheatley Hall and aggressively demanded her take off her black Nike jacket. She refused and Owens again aggressively ordered her to take it off. The student said Owens left after refusing his demands.

Owens apparently left the area when he heard police were called. Officers located him in Douglass Hall and placed him under arrest.
