Woman fights police in arrest

An allegedly drunken suspect intent on fighting was taken into custody in a Grambling State University dorm early Sunday morning, but it took three police officers to do it.

Shmyrri Marie McDonald, 21, of New Orleans, was arrested about 3:15 a.m. Sept. 14 after fighting and biting the victims and taking on three officers at once.

GSU Police responded to a fight on the third floor of Douglass Hall about 3:10 a.m. They found McDonald arguing and trying to fight a male and a female student. When McDonald refused to step back when police tried to separate them, a struggle ensued.

According to an officer’s report, McDonald kicked, spit upon, and attempted to bite the officers. It took all three officers to restrain and place McDonald in handcuffs, the report said.

Officers found blood bite marks on the two students. The victims said McDonald forced her way into the dorm room where she fought them and also struck a third person. The altercation spilled out into the hallway and drew a large crowd from other dorm rooms.

McDonald was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for disturbing the peace, simple battery, battery on a police officer, resisting an officer, and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
