Drug search warrants executed in Ruston

A Ruston man was booked on numerous drug charges after two search warrants were executed Wednesday morning.

Anthony Gipson, 55, was arrested at his residence on McDonald Avenue after a search warrant was executed there and at a South Clay Street location nearby.

A member of the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team wrote in a report that the McDonald Avenue location was Gipson’s primary residence and the Clay Street location was known as a “stash house” for keeping drugs. The warrants were executed simultaneously by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Response Team.

No narcotics were located at the McDonald Avenue residence. During a search of the Clay Street location, officers found a clear plastic bag of approximate 30 grams of powder cocaine along with a set of scales.

The report noted that LPNET agents have purchased cocaine from Gipson at the Clay Street location. The Clay Street location is within 2,000 feet of a church and thus is within a drug free zone.

Gibson was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center on warrants charging him with three counts of distribution of cocaine and three counts of violation of the Uniform Controlled Substances law establishing drug free zones.

Based on the evidence found at the Clay Street location, Gipson was also booked for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
