Driver arrested after hit and run crash

A Grambling woman was arrested last Wednesday after she was allegedly involved in a hit and run crash on East Georgia Avenue in Ruston.

Jasmyne Wright, 27, was arrested after Ruston Police investigated the accident and located her nearby.

At about 10:30 a.m. Jan. 21, Ruston Police responded to the 900 block of East Georgia Avenue (U.S. 80) regarding a hit and run. The victim told police he was driving east on George Avenue when the driver of a black Nissan Altima sideswiped him while driving at a high rate speed.

The victim said he saw the vehicle continue east. An officer searching for the suspect vehicle saw a commotion in the parking lot of a restaurant in the 1000 block of East Georgia. He approached the driver of the suspect vehicle and got her out and was attempting to apply handcuffs when she pulled away and kicked the restaurant manager in the stomach. The officer then controlled the suspect and placed her in handcuffs.

Wright was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for hit and run driving and resisting an officer.
