
Memorial services for Alice Wong will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joseph Guo officiating. Services will be under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Alice Yim Fong Wong, age 72 of Ruston, LA passed away Sunday, February 1, 2026 at her home in Ruston. Alice was born on October 22, 1953 to Ho Wong and Yuk Wan Choi-Wong in Canton, China. When she was young, Alice and her family emigrated to Canada.
On July 20, 1975 Alice married Henry Wong in Dallas, TX. Two years later, they had their only son, Robert, on December 12, at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Like her late husband Henry, Alice was also a dedicated and recognized restaurant worker in Dallas.
In 1980, Alice, Henry, and their 3-year-old son Robert came to Ruston in order to start their own Chinese restaurant. Alice and Henry purchased Jade Garden, Inc. and renamed the business d/b/a Wong’s Restaurant. For the next 20 years, Alice and Henry enjoyed cooking for many customers and friends from Ruston and the surrounding communities. After Henry’s heart attack and stroke in September 2000 he had to retire, and they both decided to close Wong’s Restaurant.
On February 5, 2009, Alice took the Oath of Allegiance and was granted US Citizenship by the USCIS in Shreveport, LA.
Alice loved to cook and bake and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Ruston. She enjoyed watching Asian television shows, especially Korean dramas, on Netflix and listening to classic 70’s music.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Henry Wong, her parents, Ho Wong and Yuk Wan Choi-Wong; her in-laws, Jim H. Wong and Lin Quon Wong; and her brother, Alfred Wong.
Survivors include her son, Robert H. Wong; brother, Paul Wong; sister, KF Wong; brother, Michael Wong; sister, Ann Wong; brother, James Wong; brother-in-law, Chuck Wong; sister-in-law, Christina Wong; sister-in-law, Emma Chew; brother-in-law, Bryan Chew; and sister-in-law, Mable Wong. Alice has several nieces and nephews on her side and her husband’s side.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Saturday, at Owens Memorial Chapel.
