RUSTON, La. — Ahmad Hudson, the Gatorade Louisiana Boys Basketball Player of the Year, selected Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana as his Community Grant recipient. As part of Gatorade’s commitment to breaking down barriers in sport, every Player of the Year receives a grant to donate to a social impact partner of their choice.
“The Gatorade Player of the Year award highlights student-athletes who set an example both on and off the field,” said Cameron Pettigrew, Associate Marketing Manager for Gatorade Player of the Year. “The grants give these athletes a chance to donate to organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs that positively impact the youth in their own communities.”
Ahmad has had a constant presence in Ruston’s Boys & Girls Club since elementary school and still finds time to participate in the teen program and stops in to volunteer and spend time with the Club kids. “BGC means a lot, it’s where I met a lot of my friends growing up,” Hudson said, “My favorite memory is going to Lincoln Parish Park every summer.”
The funds received will go towards club programming to help ensure future generations of Ruston youth have the same opportunities to play, grow and build community.
“It has been incredible to watch Ahmad grow from a young Club kid into the amazing young man he is today,” said Jeff Miller, Teen Director for Boys & Girls Clubs of North Louisiana. “We are so proud of him and excited to see what’s in store, we just know he’s going to do great things.”
