Grambling State University’s Thomas & Joyce Moorehead College of Business & Entrepreneurship has earned an extension of accreditation from AACSB International, the world’s leading accrediting body for business schools.

AACSB announced today that Grambling State was among 38 institutions recognized for extending business accreditation, affirming the strength of the University’s business degree programs and the College’s dedication to student learning, innovation, and engagement with the business community.

“This is a proud moment for Grambling State University and for the Thomas & Joyce Moorehead College of Business & Entrepreneurship,” said President Martin Lemelle, Jr. “AACSB accreditation reflects the strength of our faculty, the promise of our students, the leadership of Dean Derrick Warren and his team, and the University’s broader commitment to preparing future-ready leaders. This milestone is not only a recognition of what has been accomplished; it is a foundation for where we are going.”

The distinction is rare. According to AACSB, fewer than 6% of institutions offering business degrees worldwide have earned AACSB accreditation, which requires a rigorous peer review measuring strategic management, learner success, thought leadership, societal impact, and teaching effectiveness.

“AACSB accreditation represents the highest standard of quality in business education, and this extension speaks to the strength of the faculty, staff, and leadership of the Moorehead College of Business and Entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Connie Walton, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Accreditation is earned through evidence, rigor, and a sustained commitment to student learning and continuous improvement. This achievement affirms the academic excellence our students experience every day at Grambling State University.”

Dean Derrick V. Warren called the extension a collective achievement, shaped by persistence, collaboration, and a shared belief in the College’s mission.

“This accomplishment belongs to our faculty, staff, students, alumni, advisory board, University leadership, and partners who leaned into the work with focus and purpose,” Warren said. “AACSB accreditation affirms the quality of our programs and our commitment to preparing business graduates who are ready to compete, lead, innovate, and serve.”

Warren credited Dr. Augustine Dzathor, Moorehead Accreditation Chair, for his leadership throughout the process, as well as accreditation committee members Dr. Cynthia Lloyd, Dr. Semere Haile, Dr. Sharon Johnson, Dr. Morsheda Hassan, and Ms. Amanda Sapp. The effort drew support from every corner of campus, from academic leadership and University administration to advancement, library services, facilities, human resources, business operations, alumni, students, and external stakeholders.

The extension arrives during a historic season for the University and the College. As Grambling State’s first named, degree-granting academic college, the Moorehead College of Business and Entrepreneurship is advancing a bold vision built on entrepreneurship, innovation, analytics, technology, and experiential learning. That vision is producing results: in spring 2026, every graduating senior in the College earned an artificial intelligence credential, positioning Grambling State graduates at the forefront of a rapidly changing global economy. With accreditation extended, the College is poised to deepen industry partnerships, strengthen student outcomes, support faculty scholarship, and keep developing business leaders, entrepreneurs, problem-solvers, and wealth creators for Louisiana, the nation, and the world.

“This recognition is not simply about maintaining accreditation,” Warren added. “It is about momentum. It is about excellence. It is about showing what is possible when Grambling State University aligns purpose, people, preparation, and performance. We are building a College of Champions, and AACSB’s extension of accreditation affirms that we are moving forward with confidence and global distinction.”
