For nearly 14 years, LG Dance Studio has proudly called Ruston home. As Ruston’s only locally owned and operated dance studio, LG Dance Studio has built a reputation for providing quality dance education in a fun, nurturing environment while remaining deeply connected to the community it serves.
Co-founded in 2013 by longtime Ruston resident Gretchen Jones, the studio has grown from a new face in the local dance community into a trusted destination for dancers and families throughout Lincoln Parish and the surrounding area.
Jones has been a leader in the North Louisiana arts community for more than 25 years. In addition to owning and operating LG Dance Studio, she serves on the faculty at Louisiana Tech University, where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She is also the artistic director of Twin City Ballet, a nonprofit dance company that provides performance opportunities for intermediate through pre-professional dancers throughout the region.
That connection provides LG Dance Studio students with opportunities to continue their dance education beyond the classroom. The training they receive at LG prepares eligible dancers for membership in Twin City Ballet, allowing them to further develop their technique and gain valuable performance experience.
In addition to its recreational classes, LG Dance Studio has developed one of the area’s fastest-growing competition programs. The studio’s competition teams have earned numerous awards while competing at the highest levels of regional competition, and LG dancers have been invited to perform with faculty showcase groups — a distinction recognizing outstanding performers. As the program continues to grow, LG Dance Studio is expanding its competition offerings to include multiple teams, providing even more opportunities for dancers who want to challenge themselves and compete at an elite level.
LG Dance Studio offers classes for students ages Pre-K 3 through adults, welcoming both first-time dancers and those with years of experience. Class offerings include ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, hip-hop and contemporary, ensuring there is a place for every dancer to learn, grow and express themselves.
One of the studio’s proudest traditions is its annual recital, held each spring at Howard Auditorium on the Louisiana Tech campus. Families have the opportunity to celebrate their dancers’ accomplishments right here in Ruston, showcasing months of hard work and dedication in front of family and friends without having to leave the community.
As LG Dance Studio prepares for another exciting season, families are invited to attend the studio’s annual Open House on Aug. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors can register for classes, meet the instructors, tour the facility and shop for dancewear as Dance Wearhouse will be on site throughout the day.
The studio will also announce exciting giveaways, free classes and other registration incentives on its social media channels leading up to the start of the season.
