Funeral services for Judy Lynn Fallin Woodard, 82, of Simsboro, LA will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel in Ruston, LA with Rev. Dana Thrash and Tim Smith officiating the service. Interment will follow at St. Rest Cemetery in Dubach, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 1:00 PM until time of service at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel.
Judy was born on January 21, 1944, in Anniston, Alabama. She passed away on July 16, 2026, at her home in Simsboro, LA.
Judy was a devoted member of Antioch Community Church in Simsboro where she taught Sunday School, led bible study, and rarely missed an opportunity to worship each Sunday. She graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1966 and went to work as a Speech Pathologist for the Webster Parish School District. Later, Judy became a junior high school teacher. She taught seventh and eighth grade English and Louisiana History at Simsboro High School until her retirement in 1996. Her crowning achievement as a teacher was being celebrated as one of the four finalists for Teacher of the Year for Louisiana. She is still fondly remembered by her former students as being an exemplary teacher. After retirement she volunteered at Lincoln General Hospital serving as a Pink Lady. She especially enjoyed volunteering in the ICU waiting room where she provided a comforting and familiar presence for patients and their families. This was the perfect opportunity for Judy as she never met a stranger and was known and loved for her caring attitude and sparkling sense of humor. She was an avid reader and spent many hours in her upstairs study overlooking her pond enjoying a good book. Judy loved and was devoted to her family including her sister, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Above all, Judy cherished her 51 years spent with the love of her life, Paul. They were members of the Caney Lake Good Sam Camp Club for many years where they made great friends and many memories. Paul and Judy loved to travel and combined their love of going to new places with their devotion to God by participating in many mission trips. Judy also enjoyed attending Paul’s fiddle and violin competitions, symphonic orchestra performances, and bluegrass concerts where she was his biggest cheerleader.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Woodard; parents, Wayne and Velma Fallin; niece, Becky Lynn Simmering, and nephew, Wesley Chandler.
Judy is survived by her sister, Jeanie Fallin Simmering and husband Rick of Pineville;
Nieces and nephews, Ben Simmering and wife Lacey of Boyce, Grant Simmering and wife Abbie and son Brady of Pineville; Teresa Taylor and husband Tim of Arcadia, Mike Chandler and wife Roxanne of Arcadia, Lisa Chandler and husband David of Douglas, Bradley Chandler and wife Michele of Germany, Jeffrey Woodard of Arcadia, and John Woodard of Arcadia, and a host of much loved great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, other family, and many friends.
Memorials may be made to the Antioch Community Church of Simsboro, Louisiana.
Pallbearers will be Ben Simmering, Grant Simmering, Brady Simmering, Scottie Chandler, Josey Chandler, and John Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Horton and Glenn Fallin.
