The price of a first class stamp has increased from 78 cents to 82 cents. Even a simple postcard requires 65 cents in postage. Postal officials say the rate adjustments are intended to help offset rising operating costs while supporting the agency’s long-term financial stability.

The Ruston Sports Complex Indoor Facility will serve as a cooling station on weekdays.

The Ruston Police Department will conduct an Occupant Protection – Sobriety checkpoint on Friday, July 31 from 6:00 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. on a public roadway in the city limits of Ruston. Numerous other agencies will be assisting.
The Louisiana Supreme Court has previously set forth guidelines for checkpoints, and public notice is a requirement. The purpose of checkpoints is to bring awareness to driving laws, the dangers of impaired driving, encourage the proper use of occupant protection and to help curb violations.

Word is Louisiana Tech may announce the addition of one or more varsity sports. The plan is based in part on a strategy of attracting students seeking a school offering the one of the new sports without significant expense to the university. The Lincoln Parish Journal broke this news back in mid-May with THIS STORY.
