A traffic stop in Ruston led to a woman’s arrest on distribution and drug possession charges after agents said they found digital scales and concealed narcotics, according to an arrest affidavit.
Portia Huntley, 38, of Ruston, was arrested Wednesday by Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team (LPNET) agents.
Agents were following a blue Honda Accord they knew to be driven by Huntley when they saw the vehicle cross the yellow center line near MacAllister Street and Duque Drive. Agents conducted a traffic stop and made contact with Huntley, who provided a valid driver’s license and insurance information.
Agents asked Huntley to step out of the vehicle to speak with her further, then searched the vehicle for weapons or illegal items. During the search, agents found digital scales in the center console. Huntley was then informed of an active warrant for distribution of a Schedule I controlled substance and was placed in handcuffs and advised of her Miranda rights,.
Before arriving at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, Huntley told agents she had synthetic marijuana concealed on her person.
Huntley was booked on the outstanding warrant for distribution of a Schedule I controlled substance, along with charges of possession of a Schedule I controlled substance (synthetic marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
