A woman walked in and out of traffic on a Grambling street, exposed herself to passing drivers and later spit on an officer transporting her to jail, according to police reports.
Latisha Paul, 50, of Grambling, faces four charges stemming from two Sept. 7 complaints to the Grambling Police Department, according to arrest affidavits.
An officer was dispatched about 10:26 a.m. to a Main Street residence on a report of an unwanted guest. A resident there said she feared Paul would harm her and that Paul had come to her home aggressively and thrown oranges at her door. The resident said she had given the oranges to a neighbor the day before and believed Paul had become upset and returned them.
After dropping the oranges, Paul went back to the neighbor’s home, the resident said. She reported hearing a loud, profane argument, then watching Paul walk to the apartment next door and strike the building with a pole, causing a loud bang. Paul left after the bang. A criminal trespass affidavit was filed on that complaint.
About 5:31 p.m., officers were sent to the intersection of Martin Luther King Drive and Wilkerson Street on a report of a woman exposing herself along the roadway. An officer found Paul walking in the middle of the street, moving in and out of traffic and nearly struck by several vehicles. The driver who reported it said he slowed his vehicle to keep her from being hit by oncoming traffic, and that Paul pulled down her pants and lifted her shirt, exposing herself.
Paul was advised of her Miranda rights and placed in handcuffs. A strong odor of alcohol came from her person. While she was being transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, Paul coughed up a large amount of saliva and spit through the cage of the patrol unit, striking the transporting officer in the face.
Paul is charged with criminal trespass, indecent exposure, disturbing the peace and battery on a police officer.
