
Bruce Allen Yates peacefully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, after a lengthy illness.
Bruce was born November 6, 1951, in Springhill, LA to Rufus Edward Yates and Mary Elaine Pickett Yates.
He married the love of his life, Sandra Anderson Yates and together they shared 52 years of marriage. During this time, they built a life filled with love, family, faith, and countless memories.
Bruce was a man of strong character, a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather. He was a hard-working man who took great pride in providing for the ones he loved. Much of his life was spent working in insurance, establishing Yates Insurance Agency, Inc in 1986.
He leaves behind a lifetime of love and memories that will be cherished by his family and all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family who are thankful for having him in their lives. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Robert Yates, and sister Annette Taylor.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Sandy Yates of Ruston; son, Jason Anderson Yates and wife Linda of Ruston; daughter, Rachel Carmen Yates of Shreveport, LA; “Big Da” to his valued and much loved grandchildren, Joseph Thomas Yates (J.T.) and wife Caitlin, Daniel Jacob Yates and wife Maddie, James Anderson Yates and wife Madalyn, Matthew Griffin Yates all of Ruston, LA; Averitt Aaron Johnson, Anderson Allen Johnson, and Aubrey Ella Johnson of Shreveport, LA; and a host of extended family and friends.
A special thanks to all the Doctors, Nurses, Techs and Caregivers at Willis Knighton Pierremont that took such great care of Bruce.
A Celebration of Life will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 21, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in Vienna, LA. Officiating the service will be Pastor Andrew Bates. Following the service a Private Graveside will be held at Kilpatrick’s Memorial Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Homes in Ruston, LA.
A visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service at 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Calvary Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, J.T. Yates, Daniel Yates, James Yates, Matthew Yates, Averitt Johnson, and Anderson Johnson.
