The Louisiana High School Athletics Association is slated to release State Softball Tournament Brackets today, with three Lincoln Parish prep teams set to advance and another looking like it will squeak in as a lower seed.
Creek Creek is the highest ranked parish team based on GreauxPreps.com power rankings at No. 6. That should be enough to give the Lady Cougars, 18-9 on the season, a home game to open the Division IV playoffs next week.
Choudrant capped off regular season play in a pair of games against D’Arbonne Woods to start the week, falling 8-12 in Farmerville on Monday before losing at home to the Lady Timberwolves on Tuesday by the score of 6-3.
Those losses snapped a seven-game winning streak for the Lady Aggies.
CHS is ranked ninth in Class B according to GeauxPreps.com power rankings and should start postseason play at home.
Simsboro won 18-1 over Carroll on Thursday before falling 9-4 at home to Downsville on Monday.
The Lady Tigers’ game scheduled for Tuesday against Jonesboro-Hodge was canceled due to the weather.
Simsboro stands at 9-19 on the season. Currently ranked No. 23 in GeauxPreps.com power rankings for Class B, the Lady Tigers look like they might squeeze in as one of the final two seeds.
Ruston closed out the regular season at 4-29 after the Lady Bearcats fell vs. St. Frederick on Tuesday.
That means, barring the unlikeliest of circumstances, the Lady Bearcats’ season under first-year head coach Ashton Guin has ended.
Lincoln Prep ended its season at 1-9 and will also not be a part of the 19 team field in the Class 1A playoff brackets.
Opening round action of the LHSAA softball playoffs is set to begin on Tuesday.
