Letter to the Editor: Citizen encourages support of upcoming school bond

Dear Editor,

As a proud member of the Lincoln Parish community, I strongly support the School Board’s proposed bond issuance to fund critical improvements to our schools. This investment is essential for maintaining the high-quality education and competitive sports programs that make our community a desirable place to live and work.

The proposed upgrades, including enhanced school security measures and facility maintenance are necessary for the safety and well-being of our students. However, I want to emphasize the importance of the proposed investments in athletics and extracurricular activities.

Athletics and extracurricular activities, such as band, play a vital role in improving academic performance, increasing graduation rates, and fostering community pride. The covered pavilion will serve as a classroom where teachers and coaches can provide instruction to our students in various disciplines, rain or shine. It will be a valuable resource for the entire student body, not just sports teams.

Furthermore, the proposed activity buses will provide cost-effective and safe transportation for our band, spirit groups, and other student organizations attending away games and other required events.

Issuing a bond is the most cost-effective way to fund these improvements without raising local taxes. The School Board has carefully researched and planned these expenditures to ensure the best use of resources for the benefit of our students and community.

I urge all residents to support this bond proposal. By investing in our schools, we are investing in the future of our students and the continued growth and prosperity of Lincoln Parish.

Kind regards,

Landon N. Tooke
