LPSO response leads to domestic abuse charges

A Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call regarding a disturbance on Hwy. 822 and ended up arresting one of the residents at the location.

Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with Laurie Zamora, 49, of Choudrant, who stated she wanted another male out of her house and that he would not leave. Zamora stated that the male had lived in the residence for more than two years.

The deputy explained to Zamora that the male had legally established residence and that the LPSO could not make him leave. The deputy then began to explain the eviction process to Zamora.

Zamora then stated that if LPSO had to come back, officers would have to take her to jail.

Deputies made contact with the male, who stated he did not want to leave at the time. The male said he and Zamora got into a fight and that Zamora struck him on the face with an open hand. Deputies observed the left side of the male’s face was red and scratched with fresh blood.

At that time, Zamora was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. She was charged with disturbing the peace and domestic abuse battery.
