Young named first-team All-American

Louisiana Tech fans knew he was one of the best in the country.

And on Friday, Bulldog shortstop Taylor Young received national recognition for just that as he was named first team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

The 2022 C-USA Tournament MVP sat atop the nation in runs scored for a second straight season and broke his own single-season record as he came across home 89 times in 2022. Young led the Bulldog offense in nine different categories and produced 28 multi-hit games.

The West Monroe native broke three different records this season finishing his career with a .330 batting average in 249 games played. Young set the new hits record in the last series of the season at Charlotte and caps off his five-year tenure with 297 knocks.

It’s the second consecutive year that a Bulldog has earned these honors after Parker Bates and Hunter Wells were selected as ABCA/Rawlings All-Americans.

The teams are voted on by members of the American Baseball Coaches Association and the process is led by the ABCA NCAA Division I All-America Committee, which is chaired by Tommy Raffo of Arkansas State University.
