Lady Aggies sweep 2-B top hoops honors

The Choudrant Lady Aggies swept the District 2-B season with an unblemished 6-0 record.

And now the Lady Aggies have also swept the top two honors on the All-District 2-B girls basketball team with Brandy Roberson being named Coach of the Year and sophomore guard Reese Brown garnering Most Valuable Player honors.

Roberson, former head coach at Simsboro, was in his first season at Choudrant after transferring from Ruston High School.

Brown led the district with 13.8 points per game while adding 4.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per contest helping lead the team to the District 2B title and a berth in the Non-Select School Division V playoffs.

Two other Lady Aggies earned first-team All-District 2-B accolades in senior guard Brelyn Pyle (12.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 4.2 apg) and sophomore guard Sadie Jones (5.2 ppg. 7.0 rpg, 1.3 spg).

Simsboro boasted a pair of Lady Tigers on the all-district first-team in junior guard Jahkeira Abney (10.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.3 spg) and junior guard Kayla Mitchell 7.4 ppg, 8.0 rpg, and 1.3 spg).

The Lady Tigers had a pair of players selected to the 2-B second team in seventh-grade guard Dakota Powell (3.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.7 spg) and post player Brianna Williams (4,3 ppg, 4.0 rpg and 1.3 spg).

One Lady Aggie — junior guard Abby Frazier — earned second-team all-district honors after averaging 5.6 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest.

Lady Aggies earning all-district honorable mention were junior forward Piper Jackson (3.4 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and junior forward Addison Swift (5.3 ppg, 4.6 rpg) while Simsboro had one in sophomore forward Curniya McCallister  6.1 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.7 spg).
