Baton Rouge, LA – Late Wednesday night, a Louisiana State Police Lieutenant was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Department following an off-duty domestic violence incident.
40-year-old James Jefferson III of Baton Rouge was arrested at approximately 11:30 pm on February 5, 2025, outside of a residence in Baton Rouge. Jefferson has been employed with the Louisiana State Police since 2007, and is currently assigned to Headquarters.
As a result of the incident, Jefferson was transported to and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for LRS 14:35.3.I – Domestic abuse battery (w/ child endangerment). Jefferson has been placed on administrative leave, and all law enforcement property will be recovered pending the conclusion of criminal and administrative investigations.
