Ruston Police arrested two Monroe women Sunday after they allegedly stole items from a clothing store in the Graham Shopping Center.
Officers responded to the store about 2:30 p.m. on February 2 regarding a report two women had left the store after the manager attempted to stop them.
Lucille E. Little, 26, and Keisha S. Brown, 23,were found hiding in the bathroom of a nearby store. Both denied taking anything from the clothing store.
A search of Brown’s purse located a clothing tag removal device. Brown said she knew nothing of the device before changing her statement several times and explaining it belonged to her grandmother and she did not know how it came to be in her purse.
The store manager said Brown and Little came into the store, walked to a section of clothing, and quickly exited, activating the alarm. Surveillance video reportedly documented the incident, but could not be viewed at the time. The suspects were alone for several minutes between the time they left the store and police arrived. Both women were arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish detention center and released on bail.
