Unconscious woman found in Choudrant parking lot

A woman initially found unconscious in a Choudrant parking lot with her 2-year-old child was later arrested for drug possession and child desertion.

According to the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sara Monk, 36, of Choudrant, was found by Dollar General Store employees passed out in her car with a crying child on top of her. An employee said she knocked on the window but could not wake the woman.

When sheriff’s deputies arrived, paramedics were treating her and administered Narcan, a nasal spray treatment designed to reverse the effects of a life-threatening opioid emergency.

When Monk awoke, she allegedly admitted using narcotics but was unable to tell what substance or when she took it.

A search of Monk’s vehicle located five units of suspected MDMA (ecstasy) in a plastic baggie in the center console.

After she was treated at the Northern Louisiana Medical Center, Monk was arrested for possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, child desertion, and open container.
